FORCE

Tayside

OFFICERS

Supt SINCLAIR

Kenny joined Tayside Police in 1979 and was integrated very quickly into the Life Saving environment. He participated as a competitor and the male team's captain from the early 80's.

When the existing team Coach and Organiser retired from the police in the late 80's, Kenny took on that challenge in taking on the lead role for Tayside. His contributions to Life-saving and enthusiasm led to him being nominated to become the Scottish Liaison officer on the ACPO technical committee and he has held this position for over 15 years. Following the great success of the competition Tayside hosted in 1999 Kenny was nominated to take on the role of secretary and treasurer for the ACPO committee. For 8 years Kenny has been the backbone in the organisation of our event that has grown from strength to strength

Over the last 20 years Kenny has kept the life saving world afloat in Scotland when at times there was little or no interest from other Forces - it is because of his efforts and commitment that Tayside has developed into one of the leading teams in the UK today.

Kenny is due to retire at the beginning of next year and this could be his last ACPO Lifesaving Championship.

Kenny your contribution to Police Life Saving over the years has been outstanding and you are awarded the Chairman's Certificate of Thanks.

FORCE

Essex

OFFICERS

PS ‘Paddy' O'TOOLE

Paddy has served with Essex Police for 30 years this November. For all her service she has been involved with Police life saving having competed for Essex police in almost every competition over her 30 years service. Due to her involvement with Police lifesaving, this has enthused her so much that she has involved herself with the RLSS, becoming a teacher, coach, assessor and an examiner and is involved to this day in the Essex Branch of the RLSS.

She has been seen as a very valued member of Police Lifesaving over the last few years and has competed with the Essex ladies team and has been in the winning team on more than one occasion.

The Essex team will sorely miss Paddy and thus she has been nominated to receive a Chairman's Certificate of Thanks.

FORCE

Cleveland

OFFICERS

PC WATSON

PC Michael (Mick) Watson has been nominated by both his line managers and the lifesaving section of Cleveland Police for recognition.

Mick is in his 30 th year of service and has been a stalwart of both force lifesaving and the ACPO competition since joining the police service as a cadet.

PC Watson has been the lifesaving section's secretary for the majority of his police service and has until recently has been active in the local RLSS branch. PC Watson was a driving force behind Cleveland Police's invitational competition that ran for 9 years, co-ordinating transport, accommodation, judges and the format of the event.

Mick has supported and encouraged those new to Lifesaving to have a go and has worked with these individuals to help them acquire the necessary skills required. Above all Mick has been and still continues to be enthusiastic about Police lifesaving both in force and in the national championships.   The force therefore wishes to seek recognition of Mick's 30yrs of involvement in Police Lifesaving .

FORCE

Lancashire

OFFICERS

PC PLUMMER

Greg has been a valued member of the Lancashire Constabulary Lifesaving team since he joined as a cadet in 1977.   He has attended nearly every ACPO National Lifesaving Championship, only missing out in qualification on two occasions over those 31 years.

He has been successful as an individual winning the competition on one occasion and has been in silver and bronze medal position numerous times.

He has also won the Police Baton with Lancashire six times and in recent years the team have been in medal positions, the last two years receiving the bronze medal.

On the international front Greg represented the UK lifesaving team for five years.   In that time he attended the Commonwealth Championships in Melbourne Australia and the European championships held in Germany, Holland and Sicily.

Greg is intending to retire from the police later on this year and it is a fitting tribute to honour his contribution to lifesaving over the years by receiving this recognition.
